Offer-In-Compromise (Negotiation of tax liability)
In certain situations, the IRS will be willing to accept a small percentage of the tax debt as full payment. This is accomplished through an offer-in-compromise (OIC); an agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that resolves the tax debt. The OIC process is complicated and should only be considered after all other options have been investigated. It is critical that the taxpayer be represented by individuals such as the team at Esquire Group who are experienced in IRS representation and any recent changes in the law in order to maximize the likelihood of IRS acceptance of a favorable offer.
